Why did my compression fail?

The most common causes are browser-related: Safari on iOS has limited MediaRecorder support, very large files may time out in local mode, and certain codecs can not be decoded in the browser. Try Chrome or Edge on desktop, or use cloud mode for files over 300 MB.

Is VidCompress really free?

Yes. The free tier lets you compress files up to 300 MB locally with no signup, no watermark, and no daily limit. A Pro tier is available for users who need larger files, batch compression, or 4K output.

Do you store my videos?

Files under 300 MB processed in local mode never leave your device. Cloud-compressed files are retained only long enough to deliver the download link, then removed automatically.

What browsers are supported?

Chrome, Edge, and Safari on desktop work best for local compression. Firefox has limited support for some codecs. Mobile browsers can compress smaller clips but may be slower.
